VISUAL ARTIST
Benjamin Goodwin
As a young boy in the Natal midlands, Benjamin would wander around his father’s Bronze Fine Arts foundry and interact with artists and artisans. In his early twenties he was employed by his father and during this time discovered his love for the ancient process of cuttlebone casting.
Having worked in this medium for over a decade, Benjamin's attention to fine detail is evident in the forms he creates in his work. His lifelong love of nature and fishing has allowed him to uncover a variety of insects and fish from the cuttlebone which - in a way - completes the life cycle of the cuttlebones which he collects as he walks along the beach.
If Benjamin is not creating art or fishing, you may be lucky to catch him giving a Cuttle Bone workshop where he shares some of the knowledge he has acquired with others.
